In an era marked by evolving strategic landscapes and rapid technological advancement, Australia's maritime defence remains at the forefront of national security considerations. Recognising the significance of undersea warfare in the larger tapestry of national defence, the 2023 Defence Strategic Review (DSR) heralds a bold paradigm shift. Described as the 'most substantial and ambitious approach to Defence reform recommended to any Australian government since the Second World War', the DSR underscores the critical importance of enhancing and solidifying our undersea capabilities.
Enter the Undersea Capabilities Corporation (Undersea Corp). Founded in response to the pressing imperatives laid out in the DSR, Undersea Corp is dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovation to cement Australia's position as a preeminent force in undersea warfare. Our mission is multifaceted: we focus on harnessing automation, artificial intelligence, digitisation, and modular technologies, all of which are instrumental in enhancing the Navy's operational capability.
A prominent feature of our strategy is the symbiotic collaboration under the AUKUS partnership, particularly with the advent of the Undersea Robotics Autonomous Systems (AURAS) project. This transformative endeavour, under AUKUS Pillar Two, heralds the genesis of underwater networks combining the effectiveness of crewed and uncrewed vessels. The vision is clear: a networked underwater range enabling seamless sharing of information and coordination amongst naval vessels, amplifying our Navy's effectiveness and ensuring a pronounced edge over potential adversaries.
Undersea surveillance and response systems, a vital cornerstone of our defence strategy, are further augmented by the application of persistent undersea surveillance. The incorporation of deployed sensors and sea-denial systems ensures not only the sustainment but also the enhancement of the Navy's capability edge.
At the Undersea Capabilities Corporation, in collaboration with the AUKUS Forum, our ethos revolves around creating opportunities for the Australian industry. We are steadfast in our commitment to foster a collaborative environment where innovation thrives. As we navigate the challenges of the present, we remain buoyed by the promise of a secure and dominant undersea future, aligned with Australia's renewed strategy to bolster regional security.
Foreign based supply chain issues and increasingly unstable geopolitical factors, have lead to a requirement for Australia to rapidly expand its domestic undersea warfare manufacturing capabilities. Get involved and register your capabilities.
